There was once a boy...

There was once a boy who made a boat. Just a small boat, he could hold it in his hands. He painted it and put a little sail on it. He even carved his initials on the bottom.
What fun he had sailing his homemade boat. He went down to the edge of the lake and placed the boat on the water and watched it bounce up and down. But one day, the boat drifted away from him. He tried in vain to retrieve it. It was gone. He would never see it again. Sad, he went home and cried himself to sleep.
A month later, he was in the nearby town and walked by a pawnshop. He stopped to look in the window, and three he spied his little boat. He rushed in the store and told the man behind the counter: "You have my boat. I want it back. See, there are my initials on it." But the man explained that he had paid someone who brought it in, and if he wanted the boat, he would have to pay five dollars for it.
The boy ran home and saved his money. As soon as he had five dollars, he hurried back. He gave the clerk the money. Clutching his boat dearly to his heart, he said: "Little boat, you are twice mine. I made you and I bought you back."
