The subject of discussion for the adult Sunday school class was "The Positive Impact of Childhood Memories on Our Lives." There was laughter and a tear or two as years of treasured memories came flooding into that room. One by one, the members of the class chimed in with cherished stories from the past. Albert spoke of working with his grandfather during the fall harvest. His job was guiding the horse in the barn as hay was lifted into the haymow. His grandfather loaded the large fork outside the barn. According to Albert, he and his grandfather were quite a team as they worked with the neighbors to get the crops stored for winter.
Albert's wife, Joan, mentioned that her memory of the day focused on the thrashing season on the farm. She remembered the huge meals served to the crew as they worked the fields. She told of the privilege she enjoyed in taste testing much of the feast before the workers plopped down for the meal. She not only remembered the food, but also the great fun she and the other kids had as the families joined forces for the harvest. For both Albert and Joan, there was great joy woven into those special harvest memories.
