Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind almost didn't get published. She had written stacks of pages spinning her story of the Civil War. A publisher came to Atlanta to talk with her about the book. She consented for him to take it to New York. But he had no sooner left Atlanta before she changed her mind. She didn't want it published. She didn't want him to read it or have anyone else read it.
