The shadows were lengthening over the 18th hole as the two older gentlemen sipped their soft drinks in the clubhouse. They had enjoyed a good game and were engaging in some shoptalk. During the past year, two of their close friends had turned over their business to their sons and retired. As a result, the topic of their conversation became the business acumen of the two young busmess men.
"It's interesting," Chester began, "how young Morgan has kept the old man's style of business intact, while, at the same time, putting his own brand of leadership on the company. I mean, his dad had things really humming over there. He could have just settled back and let it run. But, instead, he took the good ideas and values of his dad and expanded and modified them to make the company even more vital and dynamic. He really has a good business sense about him. I'll bet his dad is really proud of him."
"Well," said Rudy, "I wish that were the case with Elmer's son, Donald. I talked with the young man just the other day. I got the impression that he considers his dad almost too tough an act to follow. Sure, he keeps things happening, but he seems almost afraid to provide any leadership over there. He is just going to have to prepare for that day when he won't have old dad around to help out."
