Several years ago on the Canadian prairies, farmers experienced an unusual problem with
the pronghorn antelope. Rain and snowfall had been particularly meager during this
period and as a result food supply for domestic and wild animals was minimal. Feed hay
was shipped in from other parts of the country to provide for the livestock, but the deer
and antelope had to find what they could.
The antelope hit on an endless supply of food. They would gather around old wooden granaries, which still exist in many parts of the prairies, and somehow managed to knock a hole in the corner of the bin so they could eat the grain that spilled forth. Like Elijah, these antelopes' "jar of meal and jug of oil" seemed to never run dry. (Unlike Elijah's unending supply of oil and meal, the antelopes' supply was turned off when the farmers discovered their trick!)
