Prophets and prophecies have always endured scorn and derision by the skeptical. A story is told of a group of people traveling by stagecoach who got into a religious discussion concerning the above, when one of the men said, "There is no such thing as a true prophecy because there is no such thing as a true prophet. As to the biblical prophecies, they were all written after the events took place."
A minister in the coach, who had said little to that point, replied, "Sir, I beg leave to mention one particular prophecy as an exception. It is 2 Peter 3:3; 'Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers.' Now, sir, whether the event be not long after the prediction, I leave this company to judge."
The scorner said not another word.
