This passage tells of the strong mentor relationship between Elijah and his young protÈgÈ, Elisha. Yet not all such relationships are so positive. Such was the relationship between a young minister and his supervising bishop. The young man burst into the bishop's tent at a camp meeting and exclaimed, "I've been asked to preach tomorrow morning, and I don't have a sermon ready. What am I to do?"
"Just trust the Lord," said the bishop, before turning on his heel and leaving the tent.
The desperate young preacher, with nowhere else to turn, picked up the bishop's Bible. He discovered an excellent sermon tucked inside the back cover. He preached it in worship the next morning. All his listeners were amazed at his erudition: except the bishop. Afterwards the bishop confronted the inexperienced minister: "Young man, you just preached my sermon for tonight. What am I going to do?"
"Just trust the Lord," answered the young preacher.
