The opening verse of this reading gives us a picture of heaven's diverse population. All kinds of people will be there, perhaps to our surprise in some cases.
One day in heaven, a group of newly-arrived entrants was being given a tour to acquaint them with their new heavenly surroundings. St. Peter himself was leading the group. As they were walking down one of the sparkling corridors, the came upon a door that was closed. St. Peter urged everyone to walk by the door on tip-toe, making the least noise possible. He explained his request this way. "You see, behind that door are all the Lutherans, and they think they're the only ones up here!"*
*Instead of "the Lutherans," the speaker may substitute the name of whatever denomination is being addressed.
