Neil and Barbara were sitting around the council table. When it came time for Neil's report he spoke for twenty minutes about the work he had done for the good of the church. As he gave his report it sounded like he had been the only one who did any work. By the time he was finished the council members had to shut their ears to Neil's report. As Neil's report drew to a close the chairperson thanked Neil for his report and added, "I've seen many of your committee members hard at work. They deserve our vote of thanks." When it came time for Barbara's report she did not mention her own name once. Her report was all about the work that those on her committee had done to contribute. The council members kept waiting for her to talk about the many things she had done -- the new Reformation Banner she had made and quilted, and the plant tables she had donated when the old ones had become too unstable. However, Barbara never mentioned her own name once. When Barbara's report was over, the chairperson thanked Barbara for her report. Then he added, "I know that you have personally completed many projects." Then turning to the council he said, "Let's give Barbara our thanks for a job well done." Barbara blushed as the council clapped. "I wasn't alone in this work," she said. "I will pass your thanks along to the committee."
