My niece wants to be...

My niece wants to be a dancer. At least, she thinks she wants to be a dancer. Her mother enrolled her in dance class when she was only four years old. It was fun in the beginning -- buying leotards, practicing with her little friends, being in afternoon recitals. As time passed, my niece began to realize that being a dancer involved work -- a lot of it! It took discipline to work out at the bar every day. It meant daily practice whether her muscles cramped or not. The older she gets, the more she realizes that success requires the necessary preparation.
The same is true in God's preparation of Israel for divine blessings. Blessings were the result of obedience to God's commandments; and they were bestowed upon folks who lived by faith in God's promises. God still uses this formula to bless us in our time.
If my niece wants to be a successful dancer, she has to remember her basic training and practice. If Israel wants to enjoy God's continual blessings and have prosperity and peace, it is necessary for them to obey God's commandments and remember the lessons of the past. It doesn't pay to forget!
