Most of us look to...

Most of us look to nature for God. We head to the country for vacations. We sit beside the sea and watch the waves or the sunset. Yet redemption is sometimes most visible on the city streets, in the inner city. Here Hispanics live next to African-
Americans and Asians and Caucasians. Here where many see only poverty and refuse to come in for fear of the unknown -- here God works miracles. A little church on a corner bears witness to the promise. Its brick stands as a monument to God's work here. Inside Blacks, Whites, Asians, and Hispanics gather for worship. An African-
American woman preaches the gospel and presides at communion. A white man reads the lessons. An Hispanic youth sings "Come, Let Us Eat" during distribution of the bread and wine. People of all races come forward to eat and drink. Flags from the many nations from which they have come hang from the sanctuary ceiling. Even here, in the city, we see God at work.
