We hear a lot about "bottom lines" in today's world. Look into any sector of society and someone or an organization is using the expression. The essence is clear. When we talk about "bottom lines," we are dealing with something that is of decisive importance.
The Apostle Paul is certainly dealing with that in this passage of Scripture. He asks in different ways who or what can hurt us. The answer for the Christian is a firm and unmistakable, "Nothing."
It is as though Paul wants everyone to know that when we are right with God through Christ, nothing else matters and yet everything else matters. Indeed, when our backs are to the wall and "all the chips are down," to be in a right relationship with God through his Son is all that really counts.
To believe what the Apostle proclaims is especially imperative during a period of preparation for the celebration of the resurrected Lord.
