Mark nine tells of a time when the disciples of Jesus "did not understand what he meant, and were afraid to ask him about it."

Eliot was asked what he meant by a line from his poem "Ash Wednesday": "Lady, three white leopards sat under a juniper tree." He answered, "I mean: Lady, three white leopards sat under a juniper tree!"
