Focusing a camera is quite an art. Movie directors and photographers alike use the properties of focus for dramatic effects. We have all seen the movie which begins with a close up of a flower against a totally blurred background. Soon the focus shifts and the flower slowly fades as the star of the picture comes into focus running away from a slightly fuzzy building. Again the camera shifts interest as the star is blurred and we clearly see the villain slinking in a corner of the sharply-focused building. All three elements were in the picture from the beginning, but they only became apparent as the camera focused on the specific object.
The Scripture in Genesis is like that movie. There are many factors in the "picture": creation, humanity's relationship to God, our relationship to creation, the man-woman relationship, and the role of the family. As we focus on one concept, the others seem to become blurred. But, we can only focus on one at a time. The others still exist, but we will have to focus on them at some other time.
