The church was engaged in a very important project. For months they had planned for this project, and the deciding activity was to begin with a free dinner for the whole congregation. The meal was to be free in order to encourage total participation in the evening's event. As the plans developed for this decisive dinner and the meeting that was to follow, the committee decided to do all that could be done to ensure everyone's comfort and attention. Thus the decision was made to go to the additional expense of providing babysitting services during the dinner and meeting. Parents were instructed to feed the children before they came and then leave them with the babysitters.
"And they were bringing children to him, ... and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it he was indignant, and said to them, 'Let the children come ...' "
What message are we sending to our children about their place in our church through our actions? What are we missing by our attitudes?
