A little girl had become very ill and doctors said she would die unless she had an immediate transfusion of blood. However she had a rare type of blood and it was doubtful that a donor of the same type could be quickly located. Time was of the essence if she were to be saved. Then it occurred to one of the physicians that the girl's younger brother, who was eight years old, might be a supplier. The boy's blood did prove to be the right type and he was asked if he would be willing to donate his blood, in order to save his sister's life. He immediately said, "Yes." In a hospital room the two siblings were placed on tables alongside each other and a machine drained some blood from the boy, injecting it into his sister's body. Soon the transfer was completed, but the lad could not believe that it was over. "But I haven't died!" he exclaimed. Then for the first time his family realized that he thought he would die in the process of giving his sister his blood. What love had been behind his volunteering of blood for his sister's sake! -- Lentz
