Life is a miracle of God. The very fact of creation testifies to the existence of God who created everything out of nothing. But God wasn't content to allow the creation to be the only testament to his love and power. In the second great testament, God sent Jesus, divinity incarnate in human form. The incarnation of Jesus is a miracle of God. He preached to the people, he taught them of God's love, he demonstrated God's power. Paul says God was with him and we are witnesses to that great miracle. But wait! There's more! Paul tells us that the powers of this earth put Jesus to death on a cross, hanging him on a tree! The powers of empire, the powers of greed, the powers of fear and jealousy, the powers of falsehood and narrow-mindedness, the powers of human sin; they all found a focus on the cross and they hung Jesus there to die. Then, in the next great testament of God's love and power, the miracle happens again. Resurrection happens. "God raised him on the third day!" The resurrection is a miracle of God that testifies to all who hear of it that God's love cannot be beaten down by all the accumulated powers of darkness, evil, and sin. Creation, incarnation, resurrection: everything testifies to the love and power of God. In every land, among every people, the message rings out. It cannot be silenced! This is God's world! God is present here! God will always win!
