Last year I taught two tandem courses on the Christian faith. One was to a group of teens in the parish hall at church. They were (and are) good kids, and "did their homework." There was no great enthusiasm for the task, but they knew they were "supposed to go through it."
The other was a one-on-one series in a living room with an inquiring adult. She had a million questions. We seldom stayed "on the subject" and the curriculum was strictly secondary.
Every pastor in the history of the church has had such tandem teaching opportunities. Which is the more satisfying? Silly question. Mary was "ready" to learn. She had a million questions. Oh for six or seven hundred Marys in each parish of the church!
