The derogatory labeling and name-calling of the drug culture often identifies two roles: pushers and junkies, addicted to some enticement, enslaved to some idols, burdened with guilt, imprisoned in fear. What if pushers came from another direction altogether? Suppose a Christian thought of him or herself as a "pusher" not in the sense of wares, but as a disciple with the gift of energy -- the runner -- striving to pull, push and urge others into the kingdom? The Church needs the athlete's energy and the cheerleader's enthusiasm to be God's pushers: away from junk and toward life.
