John was a riveting storyteller and Amy could never quite tell where to draw the line between fact and fiction. As John concluded his current tale about an absolutely outlandish adventure with his cousin when they were boys, Amy asked him, "John, you tell these tales as if they were entirely true. Are they?" John sort of rolled his eyes as his face broke into a grin, acknowledging her perception that perhaps he'd embellished the truth just a little.
