Jesus' parents came to the rescue of the temple teachers just in time. The young boy was asking them questions beyond their reach.
The scene is reminiscent of an incident in the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, who became a physicist and director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton University (he helped develop the atomic bomb, which ended World War II in the Pacific Theater).
When he was 23 years old, Oppenheimer was being examined for his doctorate at Gottingen University in Germany. On emerging from the oral examination, James Franck, physicist and professor on the Gottingen faculty, said, "I got out of there just in time. Oppenheimer was beginning to ask ME questions!"
