It is a powerful thing...

It is a powerful thing to live toward the future. In the motion picture, Pay It Forward, a seventh-grade schoolteacher (Kevin Spacey) has an annual assignment that he gives his students. They are to "pay it forward," meaning that each student is to do something for others that the recipients cannot do for themselves. You simply have to do it three times and encourage each of those three people to do something for three others. Every time someone else responds in kind, the return gets larger. Through such random acts of kindness focused forward one person is literally able to change the world. One student, Trevor (Haley Joel Osment), believes in the possibilities in dramatic ways. As Trevor begins "paying it forward," the ripples of influence begin to make profound differences in the lives of others. He helps a homeless young man (Jim Caviezel) find a place to sleep and a homeless woman (Angie Dickenson) is touched through his efforts. One reporter encounters some of the "ripples" and begins tracking down the story. Many lives are transformed by his selfless love, most notably, that of his teacher and his mother (Helen Hunt). Though he eventually loses his life through loving others, the impact of his living continues.
