Illustration
Instead of using a verbal (oral, wordy) illustration for this passage this time around, go to the library and get a book of optical illusions. Pick three or four and enlarge them on a copier and use them in the course of the sermon. Try to find illustions that haven't been commonly used before. The point of most optical illusions is that we see what we expect to see, and when our expectations are not met, we tend first to deny what is directly in front of us, to "bend" what our eyes are perceiving to meet our expectations.
