If you've never been there before, a day in small claims court will convince you of the
importance of having eyewitnesses. One day, when I happened to be at court to resolve
some rental unit issues, I watched and listened as case after case was brought before the
judge. Of note, was one case where a woman was suing a caterer, formerly a close friend,
for bad brownies at her son's graduation party. Witnesses had dutifully come along for
the day, and each testified as to how awful the chocolate brownies were and the damage
done to good graduation party relations as a result.
