I just looked over at...

I just looked over at my bookshelf. There at one glance I saw several books on the subject of the Holy Spirit. There is Dennis and Rita Bennett's The Holy Spirit and You. I can remember what a shocker that was when it hit the Christian bookstores. Later Billy Graham's book The Holy Spirit gave some balance to our perspective on the Holy Spirit. Now, there is Benny Hinn's Good Morning, Holy Spirit. And the list of books on this subject goes on and on.
Christ, the Water of Life, told his disciples about the Spirit which those who believed in him would receive at a later time. There seems to be no greater confusion about the teachings of Christ than those on the subject of the Holy Spirit. As I stood with my brothers in Christ on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., last October it was an awesome scene to be a part of. Who really cares whether it was a million or only three-
quarters of a million? Picture that many spirit-filled believers in one place. Picture them on their knees praying to God the Father. Picture them being empowered by the Holy Spirit, the spirit of truth. And picture them going out into the world to spread the Good News. That day it didn't matter whether we were Catholic or Protestant, Baptist or Methodist, Pentecostal or Nazarene. It didn't matter whether we were black or white. It didn't matter how we arrived there. All that mattered was that each of the men at the Promise Keepers gathering was seeking to be filled with all the fullness of the holy life. Terminology wasn't important. Background had nothing to do with it. Sort of like the way Christ prayed ... "if a man be thirsty, let him come to me and drink." And be filled.
