I find that prayer requests often are dealing with some area of pain that the individual is
facing. What is the greatest pain in your life right now? It may be a health problem, it
may be brokenness, or depression a friend is facing. Identify that pain, and turn it over to
God, believe the promise of God, given through Isaiah, "I will answer their prayers." As
Christians, we must look beyond our own pain to deal with the greatest pain in our
community and to consider some of the areas of pain devastating the whole world.
Christmas is only about a month away. Through television and other ads, we are being assaulted with the need to have more "stuff." I would like to challenge you to make this preparation for Christmas a time when you will plan to give yourself and your time to others instead of giving stuff. How about giving some home-baked goodies, instead of giving some half-baked gimmicks, or instead of some electronic "whiz bang" brainteaser?
Once you decide that Christmas is for giving, not buying, your Christmas will begin to mean what it's supposed to mean, in terms of love, joy, and peace.
