Helen had a secure job...

Helen had a secure job, good pay and a happy home life. The children were grown, she and her husband enjoyed the financial freedom that came with two good incomes. Then, as often happens, tragedy stepped in to alter circumstances in a big way. Her mother suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. The doctor informed Helen that her mother would probably not be able to return to her home to live alone as she had been doing. He suggested she and her husband investigate the possibility of placing her in a convalescent center.
As Helen and her husband prayed about their options, one idea surfaced which was unexpected. Helen could resign from her position and have her mother move in with them. Even though this idea would significantly change their lifestyle, they decided to give it a try.
They soon discovered that their decision was one of their wisest ever. Even with her limited physical capabilities, Helen's mother was a delightful third person to have in their midst. The mother-daughter bond grew stronger with each passing day. The acceptance and support from Helen's husband was a marvelously cherished gift.
Occasionally, former co-workers would inquire about her life-changing decision, and she would respond with a statement Solomon might have used when refering to wisdom: "Some things are just more important than anything else."
