Have you ever wished you...

Have you ever wished you could have been with Peter and John, hearing Jesus' words and staying close to his side? There is an old children's hymn that speaks of "The time when Jesus was here among men ... I should like to have been with them then." But why? Does faith need a visible presence? And, if so, is it really faith? Sir Thomas Browne, the seventeenth century English physician and author, wrote, "I bless myself and am thankful that I never saw Christ or his disciples. I would not have been one of those Israelites that passed through the Red Sea, nor one of Christ's patients on whom he wrought his miracles, for then my faith would have been forced upon me. I enjoy the greater blessings of those who saw not and yet believe."
