Habakkuk calls out for justice...
Illustration
Object:
Habakkuk calls out for justice asking God why he is silent. Justice is symbolized on
courthouses and other places as a blindfolded lady holding the balance of judgment.
In some ways, justice should be blind -- blind to the rich or privileged -- and weighing a case not on the looks or class of the individuals involved. Habakkuk would likely tell us that instead of a blindfold, justice needs bifocal glasses to see clearly and accurately both the current events, the past events, and even future events. Perhaps the all-seeing eye of God is more in keeping with justice than is a blindfolded woman.
