The film, Pieces of April...
Illustration
The film, Pieces of April, is about April, the black sheep of her family with a history of rebellion, drugs, shoplifting, tattoos, and piercings, and bad-news boyfriends. Her mother is dying and April wants her family to come to her apartment for Thanksgiving dinner. The entire family is dysfunctional and the film is funny and touching and bittersweet. But it points out how convoluted families and family reunions can become. The mother's cancer is a huge presence in the midst of all of this, as it is in so many families today.
