Families have traditions, values that set them apart from other families. For example, many prestigious "old money" families allow their children to marry only within the "old money" network. So, they attend certain summer camps, enroll in specific prep schools and universities, and join the right fraternity or sorority in order to maximize their connections within this prestigious network. In reality, if the children in "old money" families marry properly, their futures are virtually assured -- and two rich, influential families are mutually enhanced through the marriage.
