Even though Jesus said: And...

Even though Jesus said: "And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed ... the end is not yet," people persist in believing each rumor as a sign that the end time has arrived.
Not long ago many people in some quarters of the Christian church were agitated by the claim that the well-known atheist Madalyn O'Hara was going to take over the radio waves. About the same time other Christians were attacking the Proctor & Gamble Company in Cincinnati, saying its symbol was a sign of devil worship. After a thorough investigation, it was found that there was absolutely no foundation for either charge.
Too many people misinterpret the Scriptures and become paranoid about the forces of evil in the world. They believe every rumor of war, or even the slightest hint of evil's presence as an indication that the apocalypse is about to take place.
How important it is to read and study the Scriptures in the light of the history of the larger church and with the best tools of contemporary scholarship to avoid the pitfalls of jumping to erroneous conclusions in the light of the latest rumor.
