During World War II a small patrol in France was sent behind the German lines. In the course of a small skirmish one of the group was killed. Rather than simply leave their comrade behind, the rest of the group found an old parish priest and asked if they might bury their friend in the church cemetery.
The priest was very cordial, but he explained that according to their rules only Catholics were allowed to be buried in the cemetery and the deceased's dog tags indicated that he was Protestant.
