Do you know the hymn...

Do you know the hymn, "Awake, My Soul, and with the Sun?" It was written in 1695, by Thomas Ken, who was declared by King James II of England the most eloquent preacher of his time.
Left an orphan when he was only 9 years old, he went to live with his sister and her husband. After his education at Oxford, he was ordained. He served a parish on the Isle of Wight and then was chaplain to the bishop.
During his ministry, he was given to both praise and prayer. He wrote a "Manual of Prayers." He wrote several hymns to be sung to the viol or spinet. One of these hymns is "Awake, My Soul, and with the Sun."
He must have read Paul's verses in the thirteenth chapter of Romans. He would have us "shake off dull sloth." And he has us singing, "Disperse my sins as morning dew." Beautiful lines, and right on target for every morning as we get out of bed.
