The chaplain looked over the congregation of students gathered for worship. They were a bright, intelligent group of young people. Their families must be so proud of them. There was Bill. He had only recently returned to this group. He had been persuaded to join a new group that arrived on campus recently. Initially, Bill said they had offered new, exciting insights into life and the scriptures. They were people of good faith. But gradually, Bill realized their teachings were not based on solid theology. When he questioned their leaders on different aspects of their teachings, they dismissed his questions and eventually became annoyed at him. Bill began to see that this was not what he was interested in at all. In his own religion, questions were welcomed, discussion was viewed as important, a way to learn and believe at a deeper level. Bill said he felt foolish when he realized what he had left and it was great to be back. -- Lynch
