Are you serious? Shirley asked...

"Are you serious?" Shirley asked with amazement.
"Sure! Why not?" her husband of one year responded.
"It's not what I imagined we'd be doing on our first anniversary. This is supposed to be special."
"It will be an adventure." Mark always tried to help his wife see the up side of things, even when they did not turn out as planned.
Pitching a tent in the middle of a cow pasture was not the most romantic setting by most people's estimation. But, they had been invited to be in their friend's country wedding. The family farm was all they had to offer for hospitality. Any motels were miles away. As newlyweds themselves, they did not have much money for lodging. So, a cow pasture it was -- and in a borrowed tent!
All things considered that night, it was rather quiet and comfortable: the smell of fresh mown hay drifting in from the neighboring field, an occasional mooing of a mother comforting her calf under the night sky, plenty of time in the dark to remember together some of the highlights of their first year together as husband and wife. Soon, the talking turned to cuddling and the cuddling to making love.
"I wonder if all our anniversaries will be like this?" Shirley told him to keep quiet and just hold her as she fell asleep. In time, they would talk about this anniversary with the son who was conceived in that cow pasture that night in a borrowed tent.
