Among the exciting events to watch in track are the sprint relay races. Whether the 4x100 or the 4x200, the passing of the baton is critical. Sometimes the best-run legs of the race can turn into disaster if the hand-offs do not go smoothly; the faster team could lose due to a sloppy exchange of the baton. The successful relay teams practice the hand-off over and over again. Trusting hands await the proper placement of that precious baton, without which one cannot cross the finish line in victory.
