Children's Activity
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Cardstock or other heavy paper
Markers
Scissors
Glitter, crayons, and other decorating materials
Directions:
1. Have the children work in pairs.
2. Give each child a piece of paper large enough so that both of their hands can fit on it side-by-side. For younger children, a half sheet may be sufficient.
3. Have one child place his/her right hand on the left side of the paper, making sure that the entire hand is on the paper. The child's fingers should be flat and touching each other. Have the partner carefully trace the hand on the paper. Then have the child place his/her left hand on the right side of the traced hand so that it touches and is lined up with the hand already traced. Be sure the fingers are touching. Again, have the partner trace this hand.
4. Repeat step 3 so that each child can have a pair of hands.
5. Help the children cut around the outline of the hands except where the two hands meet.
6. Fold along the uncut side to make praying hands.
7. Using the markers, have the children write today's Bible verse inside the hands.
8. Allow the children to decorate the outside of their hands as desired.
