SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEMEAT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Small jars with lids (baby food jars are fine)
Glue
Jelly beans -- make sure to have all the colors listed below in number 5
Ribbon
Varnish
Directions:
1. Give each of the children a jar and a handful of jelly beans.
2. Have the children glue the jelly beans on the lid of the jar. Varnish those jelly beans to preserve them.
3. Tell the children to add ribbon around the rim of the lid.
4. While the varnish dries, fill each jar with jelly beans. Try to get one of each color.
5. Talk about the colors of the jelly beans and some possible representations of colors. Some examples are:
* Red = his blood
* Green = grass and all growing things
* Yellow = his light
* Black = the sins that he forgives
* White = forgiveness
* Purple = he is the king (loyalty)
* Pink = hope for tomorrow
* Blue = heavenly sky
6. When the lids are dry, place the lids on the jars and send them home with the children.
