Children's Activity
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Black card stock or other heavy paper
Clear plastic wrap
Glue
White colored pencils or crayons
Scissors
Directions:
1. Before the class begins, create several patterns resembling a magnifying glass. These should be cut from one-half of a sheet of cardstock. Each pattern should then be cut in half lengthwise.
2. Give each child two half sheets of black paper and tell him or her to fold them in half, together.
3. Have each child use a white pencil to trace the magnifying glass pattern in the center on the folded side of the black papers.
4. Tell the children to cut out the magnifying glasses, leaving the papers folded so that they have two. Help them, if necessary.
5. Direct the children to open their cutouts to reveal magnifying glass shapes.
6. Give each child a piece of plastic wrap, instructing him or her to place it over the hole on one of the black magnifying glasses, using a dab of glue to hold it in place.
7. Instruct the children to glue both of their magnifying glass pieces together, being careful to line up the edges. This will give the effect of the glass in a magnifying glass.
