Let's save Jesus!
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials:
Colored yarn or string
Two sticks for each child (either actual branches or craft sticks, about 5" to 6" long)
Glue
Scissors
Directions:
1.
Allow each child to pick out two sticks.
2.
Glue the two sticks together to form a cross.
3.
Take one color of yarn and wrap it over and around one stick, then over and around the next, over and around the next, and so on. (See example.) Keep doing that until the color is used up.
4.
Tie a different color of yarn onto the old one with a tight knot.
5.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until complete.You should see an "eye" forming at the center of the cross.
6.
Take a piece of string for a hanger, cut it, and tie or glue it to your "God's Eye."
7.
Let the children take their projects home and tell them that whenever they look at "God's Eye," they should remember that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and that Jesus is looking down on them to watch over them every day.
