Kingdom of heaven clock
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: Jesus tells a parable, which involves different times of
the day. This is an opportunity for your students to make a clock from
paper plates. Before you begin, review the story with students. Then
give each student the necessary supplies. These include the paper
plate, thicker paper or card stock to cut out for a big hand, a little
hand and a round-head paper fastener to connect the hands to the
clock. Numbers may be added with markers or crayons.
Show students a completed example, so they know what they are making. Write on your clock face:
"Kingdom Of Heaven Clock" - Matthew 20:1-16
When the clocks are completed, read the story or paraphrase it. Have the students listen carefully. Have the students raise their hands when they hear you mention a time of day in your story. Have them move (or help them) move their clock hands to the correct time.
Parents: Your child made a kingdom of heaven clock. It is based on the parable of the vineyard landowner. Ask your child to tell you the story. Then see if your child is able to make the clock point to the significant times of day mentioned in the parable. Those times are 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and an evening hour of your choice.
