Jesus the fisherman
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: Jesus tells Peter to cast his nets again, even
though Peter spent a night fishing with no catch. Tell your
students the story. Next, tell your students that they are going
fishing. Create the outline of a fish as a pattern. Have your
students use the pattern to outline fish on sheets of blank
paper. Then have the students color the fish and cut them out.
Divide the class into two groups. Create a fishing pond. The
first group will fish; the second group will place the fish on
the hooks. Give the fishers long strings to cast over a bookshelf
or divider in your room. Have the other group tape the fish to
the strings for the fishers to pull from the water. When all the
fish are caught switch groups. As a finishing touch offer your
students fish crackers as a snack.
Parents: Your child learned about fishing. The Sunday school class played a fishing pond game. Your child can tell you how the game is played. Re-enact the fishing pond setting at home and play it during the week.
