An important meal
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: Today we have another story of Jesus appearing to his friends after the resurrection. This time it is another fishing story. After you briefly tell the story, you may want to make a breakfast placemat shaped like a fish. Give the children each a 12-inch by 18-inch piece of paper. Have available some library books with different types of fish. Let the students draw a fish. You may want to demonstrate how to make the outline take up as much of the paper as possible. Mention that a place setting needs to fit on the fish. Have them color their fish their choice of colors. With a bright, easily seen marker, print or let them print "Come and have breakfast" (v. 2) on the fish. Cut out and cover with clear contact paper on both sides (or laminate). Suggest that they use the placemat for breakfast and remember Jesus fixing breakfast for his friends.
Parents: Make breakfast a special meal by using the fish placemat. Talk about the many times we read of fish in the Bible.
