Guarantees life after death

two balloons; one with a hole, one without a hole
Good morning, boys and girls. I brought two balloons with me
this morning. How many of you like to blow up balloons? (Let them
answer.) I want to tell you the story of a girl about your age.
She liked to play with balloons, too. The girl went to the store
with her parents. She had saved some money to buy some balloons.
She bought a balloon like this one (use the one with a hole in
it). She paid for the balloon and took it home. When she got home
she tried blowing it up. (You try.) It didn't blow up. Something
was wrong with the balloon. It had a hole in it. Has that ever
happened to any of you? Well, the next time her parents went back
to the store, the girl went with them. She told the clerk that
the balloon she had bought had a hole in it. The store had a
promise. The promise was called a guarantee. The guarantee stated
that the store will replace anything that it sells that doesn't
work. Since the balloon didn't work, the store replaced it with
one that worked. The girl was happy. She took the new balloon
home. She blew it up. (Blow up the good balloon.) It worked!
This story about balloons and a guarantee reminds me of this morning's lesson. In the lesson Jesus guarantees something to anyone who becomes one of his followers. Does anyone here know what Jesus guarantees his followers? (Let them answer.) Jesus guarantees his followers life after death.
Here's what I want you to remember. Many things that you purchase come with guarantees. That means that if something is wrong with the item, the store will guarantee to replace it with an item that works. The same is true with Jesus. Jesus has a guarantee also. He promises anyone who chooses to become a follower of him will have eternal life. That's why we are followers of Jesus. The next time you blow up a balloon, remember Jesus. He guarantees eternal life.
