Poster board
Markers
Yarn or ribbon cut into twelve-inch strips

2. As a group, brainstorm how the Ten Commandments can be rewritten to reflect modern language. Write these on the poster board so the children can see them.
3. Instruct the children to use the markers to rewrite the Ten Commandments on their papers.
4. When they have finished writing, have them roll their papers up to form a scroll and tie them with yarn or ribbon to make them look official.
Directions for making parchment paper
Materials:
Plain white paper
Cold coffee or tea
Glass plates
Blow dryer
Directions:
1. Give each of the children one sheet of the plain white paper and tell them to rip the edges off the papers (do not cut) and then crumple them into tight balls.
2. Instruct the children to unroll their papers and place them flat on the plates.
3. Give each of the children one-quarter cup of the cold coffee or tea to cover their papers. This will stain them.
4. After about five minutes, the papers will change color. Help the children pour off the excess liquid.
5. Blow dry the papers on high until they start to curl and then switch the setting to low to finish drying them.
