God sent a helper
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials:
Wrapped box (for the teacher)
Small boxes (one per child)
Wrapping paper (two or three different designs)
Tape
Scissors
Directions:
After reading the Bible verses to the class, have a discussion about who the Holy Spirit is and how he works in our lives every day. Talk about how he is not someone that can be seen, but we always know he is there. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to each of us. The Holy Spirit gives us faith to believe that God loves us.
Tell each child to choose a box and decorate it as a gift for someone special. Let them do the wrapping, but you may have to help. The tops and bottoms of the boxes should be wrapped separately, to make sure that the children can open and close them.
Explain to them that this gift is from God and they should always remember where this gift came from.
Once each child has his/her box wrapped, walk around with your box open and act as if you are putting the gift of the Holy Spirit into each of the boxes. Tell the children that God shared his gift with you, the teacher, and asked that you pass it on to each person in your class. Let them know that they can share their gift with others as well.
Each child can take his/her box home as a reminder of the gift of the Holy Spirit from God.
