Be prepared
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: When using this text, include verse 9 which informs
followers of Jesus to be prepared for what is to come. Talk with
your students about being prepared. Make a fun question and
answer session from it. Go around the classroom, asking the same
question to each student. When finished with one question, ask
the next and so on. When you are finished your students may want
to develop questions of their own for students. Try some of the
following questions, or use these to develop your own questions
for students:
1 -- If a friend invited you to stay overnight, what video would you take with you to watch?
2 -- If you were going on a long trip in the car with your family, what toy would you take along?
3 -- If you had a chance to read one book before you went to bed, what book would it be?
4 -- If you won a free pizza, what ingredients would you put on it? What ingredients would you leave off?
5 -- If you wanted to write some letters to family or friends, and had only one stamp, who would you write to?
6 -- If it was your birthday and your parents said you could do anything on that day that you wanted, what would you do?
Parents: Your child began to think about being prepared. The theme is in relation to Jesus' answering the disciples' questions about the end of time. Your child played a game involving questions about being prepared for certain situations. Ask her to explain how the game works. See if she can play it by asking "being prepared" questions to you.
