Sixteen-year-old Steve was helping his father work on their Ford pickup truck. He had been trying to loosen one particularly rusty bolt for ten minutes. Finally he gave up.
"Dad, it won't work. I can't budge it."
"Just keep at it," shouted his dad from inside the house.
After another fifteen minutes, "I've yanked at this thing about 800 times -- it's never going to come loose."
"Keep at it -- try just a few more times."
Sure enough, on the very next tug, the bolt came loose.
"About time," shouted Steve.
