The older man watched from a distance. He had worked for the company for a long time. It was almost time for him to retire. The new hires were the same year after year. How many times had he seen the pattern repeat itself, the enthusiasm, the drive to get ahead, the clarity of vision, the integrity of motive. He had been that way once. He had given his all for this company. But in doing so he had compromised his own integrity to get ahead. Fifty years ago getting ahead was very important to him. After all he had a wife and children to support.
